How do I change permissions on a file (CHMOD)?

You can change permissions on a file (or CHMOD a file as it is often called) by FTP or through your control panel:

FTP

Most good FTP prgrams have an option to change file permission. Usually right clicking on the file you want to modify will bring up a menu with an option to "Change permissions" or "CHMOD". If this doesn't work, please consult the help files for your FTP software.

cPanel/Plesk

Log into cPanel or Plesk and click on the File Manager icon. Navigate to the directory which contains the file you want to modify. Select the file by clicking its name. On the menu on the right of the page click the change permissions link, select the required permissions and then click Save.

Windows Users
Please note that Windows servers do not recognise the CHMOD protocol. The servers are preconfigured to work with most scripts.

If you are unable to run a particular script please contact our support team.
